Your Konad Nail Art Kit Does Not Work?

The Konad nail art kit came with instructions and it looked very simple..BUT when I gave it a try everything was a mess! I used up half of my Konad special nail polish to finally get it right :(

Sometimes the image would not stick to the stamp or to my nail or the polish would dry out! After all this hard work, I finally realized my mistakes and now it works perfectly fine!

Here’s a list of things that should help:

1.Switch off your fan: Yes, that was my biggest mistake. My nail paint would dry out very quickly and the entire image from the plate did not stick to the stamp.

2.Somebody said, “Rub your stamp on a buffer and it will work!” DO NOT DO THAT! You will just spoil your stamp. Just clean your stamp with a cotton ball soaked in nail polishremover. (Make sure you do not leave behind nail polish remover on your stamp.)

3.Be quick!Especially after you scrape the excess nail polish, quickly press the stamp on the plate  in a rolling motion. Once the image is on the stamp you can slow down a bit.

4.Don’t press the stamp too hard: Just a GENTLE rolling motion is enough.

5.Do not use a bad quality top coat: Look what happened when I did..The nail paint got smudged :P (unfortunately I had to start again). The Konad top coat is best for this purpose.-->

6.Hold the scraper at a 45 degree and scrape.

7.The Konad special nail polish is best for these nail arts. You can use other nail polishes but they should be opaque.

8.Don’t give up!Its difficult when you start, but once you get it right, you can finish your nail art in a matter of seconds!

How did I find the Konad nail art kit in Mumbai?
I searched for the kit at many local markets in Mumbai but nobody had it..Even the lady at a Beauty shop had no idea what I was talking about..So finally I purchased one from Jabong.com

GEAR UP FOR HOLI !!!!

The festival of colours is almost here!!Lets prepare for a fun filled and safe holi  :)

When?
27th March 2013

What to wear?
The traditional white kurti and leggings is the best..but you can always go for any old pair of clothes..Girls please wear an inner if you prefer to wear white kurti or t-shirt(you may be splashed with lots of water and we don’t want to get into an embarrassing situation..do we?)

Things you need:

2. Water balloons & water guns :P
You can also opt for the holi combos available here:

Hair care:

How can I protect my hair from harsh chemicals?
Oil your hair properly, or you’ll end up with badly damaged hair! You can use from a variety of oils like coconut oil, mustard oil, almond oil, awla oil, etc ..

How do I get rid of  holi colours from my hair?
Wash your hair with a mild shampoo.. preferably a herbal shampoo. Use a conditioner..You cannot get rid of the colours in a single wash so try this, Apply some curd on your hair after a single wash. Mix curd and lemon juice and apply properly. Leave for 45 minutes. Wash with a mild shampoo.  Use a good quality hair serum (excessive washing makes hair dry and brittle, a hair serum will really help! Trust me!)

Skin care:
Moisturiser is a must before you step out of the house on holi!
How to remove holi colours from skin?
First of all try to wipe off colours on the skin using a dry waste cloth.(some colours stick to skin when mixed with water)DO NOT RUB! Then take a cold water bath using a mild soap or shower gel. Moisturise your skin immediately after bathing..Do not have a facial or use facial bleach at least for a week after holi!
Other Tips:
Cut your nails short! Do not cut your cuticles ever (especially not before holi) or you will increase the chances of getting an infection.
Don’t forget to drink water..Yes in midst of all the fun we forget to hydrate ourselves causing more damage to our skin!
Do not wear contact lenses.

WISH YOU ALL A COLOURFUL AND SAFE HOLI :)

Water Marble Nail art, Beginners guide!

  Things you will need:

1. Any two nail paints of your choice (I used Revlon’s ruby ribbon and  Revlon's silver screen).

2. A small plastic cup.
3. Paint brush, pencil or any other pointed tool.
4. Filtered water.
5. Cello tape and scissors .
6. Nailpolish remover and cotton Q-tips.
7. Waste cloth.

Before you start:

1. The cup you use should be small, larger cups cause the nail polish to dry out quickly.
2. The water should be at room temperature and filtered.
3. Don’t sit directly under a fan or any windy place.. it’ll cause the nail polish to dry out.
4. Cover the sides of your nails with the tape.
5. Keep your nail polish caps loose(increases speed)
6. Apply a white base coat on all nails.

Let’s start:

Step 1: Fill the cup with filtered water and place in front of you.

Step 2: Gently place a drop of  Ruby ribbon nail-paintat the centre of the cup.(you will see that the nail paint spreads out evenly)

Step 3: Now take the Silver screen nail-paint and place a drop at the centre of the cup.

Keep adding both the nail-paints alternatively till you get a bulls-eye (do not take too much time or the nail paint will dry out)

Step 4: Take the pointed end of a paint brush (or in my case pencil) & very gently drag your tool through the polish to make your design.

I just put 3-4  diagonal stokes to get this design.

Step 5: Now drop your nail into the cup at an angle and hold for a second (as shown in picture).

The polish will stick to your nails along with the desired design. While your nail is dipped in the cup, use your brush and clear off the excess paint from around your finger.

Step 6: Remove the tape and clean the unwanted polish using a Q-tip dipped in nail polishremover.

Step 7: Apply a top coat so that your nail polish would not chip off.
Repeat for all nails and enjoy you water marble nail art   :)

PS: Sorry for the horrible picture quality : p
